English-only speakers who support Welsh

English-only or part-Welsh speakers in Wales who support the Welsh language - and there are many of them - and who also support the idea of strengthening the Welsh economy should take a look at this fantastic and bold idea on www.DimeGoch.com. If enough people in Wales got behind this idea then companies like Thomas Cook would need to seriously and quickly wake-up to the fact that Welsh is very important to the people of Wales, even to English-only and part-Welsh speakers.

We hear a lot these days about buying 'ethically', buying 'locally', buying 'green', etc. And quite right too. But here's another one:
buy from companies who support the Welsh language and ditch those who refuse to use it!

Well, I'm beating the same old drum, again, but why not ask the Welsh-American / Welsh-Canadian Diaspora to get on board, too?

A lot of Yanks look for online Brit tour compnaies like TC to book their genealogy/castle/chapel tours o Gymru, ya know.

Semi-Welsh speaker? Mae'n well 'da fi fod "Demi-Welsh speaker", it sounds more Euro-friendly, as in demi-tasse, 1/2 a cup in Ffraneg, ydy?

Yes, I really like the idea behind Dime Goch. It's also a chance to show at it's not just Welsh speakers who would like to see companies use Welsh. Some even use the excuse that using Welsh would put non-Welsh speakers off - what rubbish!

Mark: Great idea. We Welsh really ought to reach out to Welsh people outside Wales more often - especially with projects like DimeGoch.com. It's a great way for them to get involved in doing something positive for their home country from afar.

Rhys: Absolutely! The assumption that non-Welsh speaking people in Wales - Welsh or not - are all against the use of Welsh is ridiculous. Most respect the fact that Cymraeg is an important and inherent part of Wales.

Thanks for your kind words, GWAB...:-) Can we quote you on the site?

Mark, Cymuned members in America and Canada have been trying hard to promote Sing4Wales.com and other Cymuned sites in order to get the diaspora 'on board' - suffice it to say, it's very slow going.

I think a DimeGoch to target the diaspora is a good idea, but although there is some overlap in the companies that could be targeted, I suspect it would need to be done separately from (but in co-operation with) DimeGoch focused here...
